Upon completion of his tour of duty, Jerry
returns to Denver and to a country filled with discourse and distaste
for its military over the Vietnam War. Now out of uniform and
determined to prove himself a responsible citizen, Jerry sets out to
find his new beginnings.
To his great fortune, he happens upon Denver's Model Cities Residents'
Cultural Center, at the time a federally-funded program where any
citizen could, without cost, participate in classes in painting,
drawing, pottery, dance and music. At this center, he meets
professional artists, many of whom end up life-long friends of his.
This center ushers in his introduction to the world of fine art as
something beyond a personal and private passion. |
