| After basic training, Jerry spends six months
studying high-speed cryptographic equipment repair at the US Army Signal
Corp's secret NATO school at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey. While stationed
there, he takes advantage of the base's 'crafts' facility to teach
himself photographic darkroom techniques as well as basic sculpture. He
receives an award in an army base art competition for one of his
sculptures and is featured in the local newspaper. Though using a
camera is not new to Jerry, the opportunity to work in a darkroom is and
it helps him expand his work. |
