In 1976, Jerry applies for and is awarded the
first of two grants he will receive from the Colorado Council on the
Arts and Humanities. These resident artist grants allow the artist to
concentrate on his work without having to worry about the expense of a
studio, material or even place to live.
During these artist in residency stints, Jerry produces more personal
works, exploring mixed media and emphasizing friends and family, instead
of the southwestern landscapes and Taos Pueblo Indians that have sold so
well. He continues this trend through the remainder of the decade,
allowing his earlier personal visions to seep back into his now
professionally trained hand.
Art sale revenues allow Jerry to return to Europe for several months,
this time to visit the great art museums he missed while in the Army as
well as contemporary art galleries. |
