While in high school and with a loan from one
of his sisters, Jerry enrolls in the Art Instruction School, a
correspondence school based in Minneapolis. Through this outlet, Jerry
practices and is graded through the mail on a variety of drawing and
painting techniques. The high praise he receives from the return
critiques inspires him to continue his work, though he feels very
isolated with this method of study. He also discovers photography,
which quickly becomes an equally important element in his creative
endeavors. The camera and the way the world looks through the lens will
forever influence the way Jerry structures his personal vision. |
