High school sets the stage for Jerry to take his art to another level. He turns his room at home into a studio work place and concentrates less on art classes at school and more on his personal work at home. High school loses its attractiveness as a social venue, but remains the window to a 'career' after high school. To this end, Jerry joins the Junior Army ROTC program in which he rises to the rank of captain and excels in the state champion drill and marskmanship teams.
